Mary Begumisa Foundation (MBF) is a charitable organization whose mission is to uplift the living standards of the vulnerable and needy communities in Sembabule District. We strive to offer shelter and food to the homeless, basic skills training, and basic health care. We put our effort into promoting education and fostering individual household incomes.
MBF was founded by a philanthropist, Hon. Mary Begumisa in 2006. Her office is at Plot 2763, Lubowa Estates, P.O. Box 22754, Kampala.
She appreciates the struggles the children face every day and what they need so as to live a healthy standard of living and promote a sense of self-esteem. So helping children in poverty has always been at her heart and the desire to improve on how she can make an impact.
What do we do?
Mary Begumisa Foundation (MBF) believes that education is the foundation for success.
The MBF, through its mission, looks at all things that prohibit children from surviving and thriving in their community and then works with the community to build a better life for them.
We believe that educated children will be able to find employment and secure a brighter future for themselves and their families; a chance to earn a sustainable income and help them to break the vicious cycle of poverty.
And through becoming better educated, children can be informed much earlier about their health and well-being thus, reducing the chances of child marriage, early pregnancies, and HIV (AIDS) contraction
In Mary Begumisa Foundation, scholarships are renewed annually as well as updating their database. So parents/guardians and children must agree to the terms and conditions before the scholarship is granted thus working together for the organization to grow.
After one student completes his/her education, we will give another student the opportunity to come into the program. And for those who have completed, we strive to secure jobs for them. The organization educates, empowers, and encourages less privileged children through scholarships and enhancing the general improvement of the local people’s standards of living.
